Frequently Asked Questions

What can I expect in my first session?

During your first session, we will go over the paperwork you signed, as well as answer any questions you have about the counseling process. Then we will begin the work of telling the story of why you’re coming for counseling. I will work hard to help you feel at ease when you’re in the counseling room. I will strive to go at your pace and to meet you at your comfort level during our conversation.

How long does counseling last?

Typically, clients come for six to twelve sessions for specific, targeted issues. I am committed to walking with you for the length of your healing journey, whether that be a few sessions or many.

How long will we meet?

Sessions run about 50-55 minutes, and we will likely meet every week or every other week. Sessions will be spaced out as you feel you are making progress and able to continue the work well on your own.

How do I know what my insurance will cover?

Every insurance company and plan is different! After you fill out the insurance paperwork, I will verify your benefits for you. My policy is to wait until I receive the Electronic Remittance Advice (ERA) back from your insurance before charging you money. This is to ensure that we have the correct amount, as dictated by your insurance plan, for your part of the cost of counseling.

What if I need to cancel my appointment?

No problem! I understand that things come up. I ask that you please notify me via email or phone message 24 hours in advance of your session.
